I create a safe and joyful space for exploring how to create art and connect the non-verbal emotional side of our brains to the linear. My classes are like art therapy sessions, and students walk out of my class serene, invigorated and carrying a finished painting.
My studio/gallery is located south of Santa Fe in a small casita facing the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and each day I am astonished at the passage of the sun as my studio is on an east/west orientation.
From the soft rose morning skies, brilliant sunshine, and deep purple shadows to the golden light of sunset, dark skies, and colorful foliage I have a rich source of subject matter. When painting, I translate this subject matter into contemporary landscape painting... enhancing color, simplifying design, and using loose painterly style to create something fresh and new and a reflection of our high desert plateau location.
After receiving an BFA in Art History from Southern Methodist University in 1995, I discovered Santa Fe in 1997. The dream of living in the high desert stayed with me until 2019, when I purchased my small casita and studio, and I opened Pamela Trueblood Studios in 2021. I paint what I see in my neighborhood as Iwork to find the beauty in my immediate surroundings.
